We are Strong Towns Grand Rapids

We are a group of people who are looking to make our city better for all.  As part of the Strong Towns movement, we align with the following five core campaign ideas.

  • SAFE & PRODUCTIVE STREETS

  • TRANSPARENT LOCAL ACCOUNTING

  • END HIGHWAY EXPANSIONS

  • END PARKING MANDATES AND SUBSIDIES

  • INCREMENTAL HOUSING

Created back in 2016, the Grand Rapids Vital Streets plan is a city initiative focused on creating safe, accessible, and environmentally sustainable streets. It prioritizes “complete streets” that incorporate green infrastructure, balancing the needs of pedestrians, cyclists, transit, and vehicles. Guided by the Vital Streets Oversight Commission and a collaborative Design Team, the plan aims to support economic vitality and community well-being through long-term, resilient street design.
